Dr. Sylvia Song is a qualified and registered Patent Attorney in China. Dr. Song graduated with a bachelor degree in science (1994) and Master degree in agronomy (1997). In 1999, Dr. Song obtained a scholarship from Hong Kong University to further her studies and was awarded a doctorate in philosophy (Ph. D.) in 2003 in urban planning and environmental management. Dr. Song was awarded a number of academic awards such as “BEST STUDENT PAPER AWARD” from AAG, US.
Dr. Song worked at the Chemistry Department of China Patent Agent (H.K.) Limited, a reputable IP company in China, for a period between 2004 and 2011. Dr. Song is particularly experienced in patent prosecution in the fields of chemical engineering, polymer chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, pesticides and cosmetics and she is also skillful in analyzing the novelty and inventive step.
David is the IP Manger of the Company and has respectively worked in Lung Tin International Patent & Trademark Limited, a subsidiary of a reputable IP Company in China, and Raymond Cheung & Chan Solicitors for a considerable period of time with substantial experience in IP services over 16 years. With professional legal knowledge in IP as well as substantial working experience in IP area, David is good at assessment and analysis of registrability of the applied-for mark; similarities between the prior registered marks and the applied-for marks; whether the applied-for mark falls foul of any other rules and regulations of the Trade Marks Ordinance and this could help applicants minimize the unnecessary risks at the time of the applications. Besides, David has legal expertise and substantial experience in drafting and preparing Written Submissions in response to the Office Action; pleadings relating to Opposition by third parties as well as applications for Invalidation and Revocation of registration of registered trademarks.
